Forklift driver tasks
You will be required to transportation goods, normally on pallets around the warehouse or construction site, this involves:
- Loading and unloading from different vehicles
- Moving palleted goods around the the warehouse or construction site
- Always ensuring loads are secure prior to moving
- You will need to do forklift performance checks and in some cases do basic maintenance
- You may need to follow written work schedules and record that these tasks are completed
- Sticking to health and safety rules and guidelines for your work environment
How to become a forklift driver
You can become a forklift driver through different routes, either take a college course, serve an apprenticeship or learn the skills with a warehouse employer whilst working in the warehouse you have to be willing follow strict instructions and learn new skills.
If you want to do this on a building site they will probably need a Construction Skills Certification Scheme card which you can get attending a college course.
